Stelios Demetriou (b.1987) is a Greek-Cypriot photographer, graduate from Leica Academy Creative Photography, Athens (2009-2012), with a wide range of subjects - from nature to cityscapes, from portraits to street photography. The presence of colours, the interplay of light and shadows as well “the ordinarily sacred” are fundamental elements in his visual approach.

He is in constant research for a new expressive language, with his visual attitude leaning towards a “democratic outlook.” His work reveals a discreet attempt, to capture the “puzzle pieces” of the jigsaw portrait hidden behind an urban setting, a human expression or a body movement.

Stelios manages to let his subjects be “themselves” while unknowingly relating to the camera. His sensitive and unusually perceptive creative mannerism seeks refuge in the ingrained systems of our life patterns as well as the identities we project in our surrounding.
